The Move finally happened!

We finally had a date to collect the new house keys. It’s been a long and hard wait. Loads happened during this time and not all were good, as you may know. Life in the rented house was just feeling more and more cramped, and it was not just physically. And the fact that we’ve been all aware that the move is imminent made us all more oblivious of all the mess being left around.

I have even become more negligent with the house chores. Knowing that we were moving soon made me less willing to clean and tidy up. While one voice told me “You still live here, you still need to clean” another one tells me “Don’t worry, you have one deep clean to come before you move”. What's tidier than packing? Once the house is empty we can just focus on getting it nice and clean to return and we'll have a new motivation to start afresh once we're in the new house. It all felt really pointless to me. Superficial tidying, hoovering, bathroom and kitchen cleaning. Nothing more, but nothing less. It was my commitment between the two voices. Now it's filtering and tipping coming. I will be "Zenning" the hell out of our new house!
Grocery stock shopping was put on hold. Because we don’t want to let anything spoil during the move, we are trying to finish up everything we have in our freezers and anything out of date will be disposed of.
Thinking about the house actually helps me focus, and prevents me from thinking about Charlotte. It was something positive I'm looking forward to. Spring is just around the corner and we have been lucky to get a turnaround time that puts us moving when the weather is pleasant.
This move is happening exactly when it should happen. Moving house is not just a physical move, it’s also an emotional one. Our frame of mind recenters and updates, just like a GPS. It will refresh all our perspectives, which should then become a more positive one. Fingers crossed.
