I am going through very exciting times. There is a lot happening at the moment. I have got a job I enjoy, we’re buying a house. I’m on a journey to achieve my happiness. Yes, it’s not all good, I am currently having some relationship issues with my teenage daughter, Charlotte. It’s a hard time for her, I get it. At least Cedric is not giving me a hard time. Yet. I know it’s coming. But I figure it will be easier if I pave the way ahead for him whilst dealing with Charlotte. I know this move will be a game-changer for us all.
Moving house is exciting. Always. Moving to a new house, a new area, the whole change of scenery can really have a positive impact on our lives. It doesn’t necessarily need to be our own to be exciting, but moving to one that we know it’s going to be our own is a whole other level of moving.
What the decoration is going to be like, the furniture you want in, the colour schemes, the lights, the rugs, all the planning makes the thought of moving very motivating. It is the second time I buy a house of my own but the first one wasn’t really successful, as I moved to the UK and ended up selling it. But THIS TIME things will be different. I will make this house truly my own.
And the thing I feel like now is the perfect time to happen. I have a more acquired taste now, my views have matured and I have a more realistic vision of my needs and wants from a house.
I want it to be in a minimalist Boho style, at a personal level. Everything has to have a purpose, it cannot just be decorative unless it has memories or gives us good vibes when we look at it. So, wood, ropes, wickers, fabric, rugs, motivational frames, plants, candles, throws, the lot! It will be our family home so it needs to make us feel relaxed to be in. Maybe a few statement pieces, scattered.

Our front door should work like an interdimensional portal into our piece of heaven. And I want it to be an extension of the garden. Everyone wants to extend the indoors, I want to extend the garden.
That goes for every other room in the house. Accounting everyone’s personal taste for the portal into their little piece of heaven, of course, but keeping the theme throughout all common areas, like the wooden floors, light and bright walls, some family pics here and there mixed with motivational quote frames. My bedroom will follow exactly the same guidelines. The only fancy feature we are making a point to work on will be our en-suite, as it’s got the space for it. Keeping ourselves to ourselves.
My tablet lives on Pinterest for the past weeks by default. Watch this space.
