I never was much of a cook. My mum tried but didn't succeed. Cooking for me has always felt like a chore, like any other house chore. The thought of the aftermath, the cleaning and clearing (there was no such thing as a dishwasher for years!) - always put me off. Growing up, cooking was a need. It was a task that you were taught for our self-sufficiency.

Today, with all those little collateral jobs made easy, cooking has become more of a pleasure, a hobby even. As years went by, I learned new techniques, and easier ways to do things, and purchased handy appliances, that have become my most reliable kitchen assistants. The wonders of AI, hey? Many of them I can no longer live without, they are such time and patience savers! Even those I am still to purchase in the future. Yes, because I'm always on the lookout...

On the lookout for appliances, and on the lookout for cooking ideas and techniques. Anything that can make cooking more enjoyable.

Like this Lidl recipe, found it in one of their newsletters. It actually worked! Ok, so I had to add a little bit of wholemeal flour to thicken the dough, but the bottom line is: it was possible AND it was tasty. Try it. Not taking risks makes cooking even more tedious.

I am a frugal woman. You'll hardly see me paying more than £200 for an appliance, and it must fulfil its purpose. As with everything in life, whatever I pay for MUST have an end use. My OCD is completely against uselessness, disorganization and wastage in any shape or form.
