My body’s telling me it’s time for detox. A little flushing never harmed anyone. So, for three days this week, I will be ditching any food and drink that is not green apples, water and tea. For three days and three days only, I will not be having any meat, fish, coffee or wine. I already bought another couple of ibuprofen packs, in preparation, as I am expecting a withdrawal headache. I don’t expect one as bad as the one I had the first time around, as my caffeine intake has reduced since, but it’s good to be prepared.
It’s the best time of the year to do it. I had a couple of months to slowly get back into the daily routine, following the Christmas eating and drinking bash, just before the Spring kicks in. This way, I will not even have to worry about being ready for the Summer at all, because I will already be there - by my own standard.

I chose to start it on the days I am working from home, of course. This way the access to the toilet will be cleared most of the day and I can just crack on with work, having apple five to 6 times a day. The same number of meals I usually have. From the third day, and during the following week, I will slowly reintroduce salads, roasted vegetables, eggs and cheese. My menu will be quite restricted for a while, but I know I will feel like a refreshed person at the end of it. It will also help re-calibrate my taste buds and help them welcome new flavours.
After a couple of weeks, I will allow myself to eat fish and meat. Any, so long as these are lean. I choose to continue not having any milk or white goods because that has proven to be of benefit to my body and mind. It just cleared the fog and helped me think more clearly.
I will continue with my localised exercises, which never stopped. Three days a week, alternating with two days of yoga. Yoga is great. The fact that it helps me focus on something physical actually helps clear my mind of toxic and negative thoughts and all the overthinking, whilst helping me keep my balance.
The combo of healthy eating and exercise will help me lose a couple of kilos, which is ok, but because I already feel generally well in myself, I don’t really want to lose much more. As with everything else, detoxing and dieting need to be sensible and done in moderation.
Checking in next week on this one exciting journey which is to learn how to eat healthily, whilst still enjoying my food and life!
